About This Spot

Stepping into Golden Phoenix, nestled in the heart of London’s Chinatown, feels like entering a vibrant crossroads where tradition meets the hum of a lively city. The spacious setting, spread gracefully over three levels, invites a steady flow of chatter, the clinking of dishes, and the comforting aroma of Cantonese cooking that seems to wrap around you like a familiar, warm shawl. It’s not quiet or restrained—instead, the mood is buzzing yet welcoming, a place where gatherings of friends and families unfold with easy laughter and shared plates.

The restaurant’s modern, elegant décor and ambient lighting offer a refreshing backdrop for a culinary journey through classic dim sum and a wider array of Chinese specialties. Here, dim sum is more than a meal—it’s a ritual, best savored slowly with the steam still rising from the bamboo baskets, each bite unfolding delicate layers of flavor and texture. Whether you find yourself lifted by the silky smoothness of a prawn dumpling or the satisfying crunch of crispy aromatic duck, the dishes beckon you to explore beyond the familiar and embrace moments of small discovery.

Golden Phoenix carries the spirit of a bustling Chinatown eatery, but with thoughtful touches that make space for moments of calm and conviviality amid the urban buzz. Service flows with genuine attentiveness, guided by knowledge and warmth, inviting you to ask for guidance through an extensive menu that extends from beautifully steamed delights to satisfying noodle dishes rich with tender roasted meats and fresh seafood.

There’s a rhythm here—sometimes lively, sometimes unhurried—that feels true to the city’s pulse and the essence of shared dining. Whether you arrive eager to sample the classic dim sum spread or seek the cozy buzz of an evening meal with friends, Golden Phoenix offers a welcoming setting to savor not just food, but the simple joy of gathering around a table in a place where every dish tells a story.

We really enjoyed our food and service at the Golden Phoenix restaurant. Our server Maria is so helpful to recommend us the menu option. Thank you so much. We will definitely come back even more often.

Golden Phoenix in Chinatown serves really delicious, flavorful dishes — the food is definitely the highlight. The service is straightforward and could be a bit more welcoming at times, but everything comes out quickly and the quality of the food makes it worth the visit. A solid spot for a great meal in the heart of Chinatown.

Have been coming to this restaurant for years, best dim sum in London for sure, trust a Canto person's review. But note that dim sum stops serving in the evening. Must try Cheung Fun (rice roll) and Prawn dumplings. Don't just order fried rice and soup and complains it's plain, explore more dim sum options. Many reviews mentioned service, personally I always think they are pretty good.

This is one of the larger Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, featuring a modern interior with elegant decor, ambient lighting, and a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious seating is spread across three levels, including a comfortable ground floor, a mezzanine, and a third floor with outdoor seating. We sampled a variety of dishes, starting with a steaming bowl of Hot and Sour Soup, fragrant and tangy, accompanied by flavorful Mixed Vegetables Fried Rice packed with diced carrots, peas, and scrambled eggs. We also enjoyed Lo Ho Mixed Vegetables with Bean Curd, a savory stir-fry with tender tofu and seasonal greens, and Curry Sauce from the vegetarian menu, rich with aromatic spices. My kids chose Cantonese-style Fried Chicken, crispy on the outside with tender meat inside; Mixed Seafood Fried Rice, loaded with shrimp, squid, and scallops; Kung Pao Prawns, tossed in a spicy, nutty sauce; and Fried Crab with Chilli and Salt, featuring fresh crab coated in a light batter and perfectly fried. All dishes were delicious, with a special highlight on the crispy Fried Crab and the flavorful Fried Chicken. For those seeking authentic traditional Chinese cuisine in a vibrant setting, this restaurant is a top choice.

Despite this place being really busy and packed with people, they strive to get you seated ASAP. We were seated in 2-3 mins of arriving. It can be quite loud in there as everyone is talking, plates clanging, as well as music playing. I will say though, the food was awesome. We had the Mixed Steamed Dim Sum Platter as a starter (a bit expensive for 8 dumpling but they were very delicious). My fiance got King Prawn Fried Rice (his favorite and he liked it). I had the Braise Yee-mein Noodles w/ Crab Meat (I wasn't sure about it at first but as I kept eating it i started to love it but could've used some more meat). We shared a Whole Steamed Sea Bass. (The meat was very soft, flakey and falling off the bone. The sauce went great with it). I even added fish to my own dish for some extra meat. Drinks were a bit small and quite expensive. I had Ginger Ale (x2)(£8/ea) and my fiance had Apple Juice (x2)(£7/ea) Overall, the food was filling, well cooked and seasoned. I would recommend trying out the place for yourself.

Great place for authentic Chinese food. Flavour was definitely there. Despite it being quite busy we were seated very quickly. I come here almost every trip to London. Interior looks great however prices were quite expensive. Staff was quite average but would definitely recommend to try from time to time!
